BBVA Switzerland launches the Next Gen digital investment account
BBVA’s Swiss branch launches a digital investment account that allows users to create portfolios based on themes such as climate change and technologies, including 3D printing, while also providing a cryptocurrency portfolio .
Called Next Gen, the account offers a catalog of companies and funds organized into 11 themes including the circular economy; and in technologies such as robotics and autonomous vehicles.
The catalog also seeks to mimic the portfolios of major investors such as Warren Buffet and allows clients to invest in traditional assets such as stocks or investment funds.
BBVA is betting that by working with themes and technologies, it can attract clients with specific interests, for example in genetic research.
“The New Gen account allows clients to invest in a positive, conscious and engaged way because at BBVA we believe that today’s investments are what will define the future,” says Alfonso Gómez, CEO of BBVA Switzerland.
Users have access to a full range of online banking services and Iban numbers in dollars, euros or Swiss francs. They also receive a wallet to store, buy, and sell bitcoins, all integrated into the mobile app.
To obtain a Next Gen account, customers must be at least 18 years old, reside in an EU country or Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru or Chile, among others, and deposit at least $10,000 .
